Telltales 57

May 2005

A week of hard work.

Marit and Roland continue getting Sylphe ready for her 65th Birthday. And we are almost there. And with the help from Rolands old high school teacher we now have some more details to be proud of. Willem is an artist, sculptor and painter. And those are the shills we used this week. He did not have much of a holiday, I guess, and worked hard. Still we had time for Barbeque-ing in the evening and a glass of wine. The progress was impressive. And we looked after Gisela, who is taking shape, as well (www.giselayacht.com)

And since a picture says more than a thousand words:

Mast stepping, after a beautifull finish of varnish, we put her back in place, thanks to the patience and willingness of the guy operating the crane....no scratches.

And Willem had to go DEEP on his knees......

But, thanks to Willem, the "Andre Mauric"- logo of the dolphin-whale combination is now more beautifull than ever before. Of course, Willem added a personal touch. Look for the difference between the one on the port and the one on the starboard side of the hull. Funny.......isn't it????? If you can not find it, think "smileys"..

And combining AND the sun AND the work, Marit is enjoying herself. Unfortunately she got her finger in the winch (the first accident on Sylphe in 6 years....) and ended up with 6 stitches in her finger. But she did not give up work, as you can see..................

And Roland......well he is busy with invisible stuff. Under the floor, under the beds, installing watertanks, rerouting piping and cabling, etc. Nothing spectacular to show on photographs. Except maybe the cockpit-table, with with Willem design input ended up with the same round shape as the helmsmanseat behind it. It was a nightmare to make, but the result is great. Thanks Willem.......

We will be sailing in a weeks time. Look forward to that after two months of work,

AHOY
