Telltale 100

More kids, families and fun sailing in October

Is the fact that this is Telltale 100 (!!)  worth of being more special than any of the others? I don't know, but what I do know is that I had more of my beloved freinds/familes around for the last month. And that made it worthwile and special.

Leaving Symi and on my way to Kos, I encountered this weather for a day or two. Not a good prospect, but it all cleared up.

not always sunny

I first had Anca/Pieter with their two kids
Danique (8) and Marnick (5) onboard for a few days. Seen the fact that the weather towards the end of October can be tricky in this part of the Med (one normally is lucky..!) they had taken the very wise decision to check into a hotel on the island of Kos. I would sail with Sylphe into Kos and spend a few dasy with them. Going sailing if the weather allowed, or else spend some time in the hotel sauna, kids club etc..... it worked out just great as the weather was not all the time great, see above picture. In the end we managed to spend three glorious, sunny days and nights on Sylphe, and we hopped over to some of the smaller islands just north of Kos, Kalimnos and Pserimos. Just blissful heaven in this time of the year, if the weather cooperates, which it did, as there is hardly anybody left around. The bars/restaurants are all slowly closing down and are pretty relaxed and happy that the end of the season is there.

the complete family

Born holiday

The anchorage in pserimos becomes better with a beautiful girl in the front, don't you agree?

daddy will always protect and help out

And to Marnick, the BIMBO was still scary, so Pieter volunteered to accompany him. What else does one have a father for........

caught red-handed in bed

No comment, it clearly was a holiday......

two more sailors to be

The island of Pserimos offers one of these rare and unique real sandy beaches in greece. So the kids took advantage, helped by pieter and Roland to build a huge sandcastle.

Once again, I have been extremely lucky this year. Commercially speaking a disaster, but who cares, if in the mean time one can do the things that are really important in life: I enjoyed serious quality time with my beloved ones. They all took the effort to come out and spend time on Sylphe and with me. And all the kids........ they just love it, even if some of those kids are now 40 years old.

AHOY,

Roland
